Geometry literals with datatype geo:wktLiteral are not interpeted using the correct CRS

Reported by: charnik Owned by: pyravlos-team
Priority: major Milestone: Strabon v3.2.11
Component: generaldb Version: 3.2.9
Keywords: CRS, coordinates, coordinate reference system, CRS84, wktLiteral, GeoSPARQL Cc:

Description

In the absence of a CRS in the beginning of a geometry literal with datatype geo:wktLiteral, the default CRS according to GeoSPARQL should be CRS84 (the reverse of WGS84 or EPSG:4326). Currently, we set that to be EPSG:3857, but this is a projected CS (also known as Web Mercator or Pseudo-Mercator, or Spherical Mercator) and not a coordinate reference system, thus, coordinates in EPSG:3857 are XY coordinates instead of longitude/latitude coordinates.

There is no any official EPSG CRS corresponding to CRS84, aka WGS84 long/lat.

This bug is related to Bug #44 and upon resolution, Bug #44 should be checked as well.

Since we are now following suit on the issue of axis order for EPSG:4326 and consider a long/lat ordering like all GIS software companies do, CRS84 can be regarded as synonymous to EPSG:4326.
